AIK Stockholm - Norrkoping
This match of the 18th round of Swedish championship will be played a bit earlier than the rest. The two teams played by 12 matches and AIK stands better in the table since it occupies the 3rd place and has six points more than 7th-placed Norrkoping. The home team is in better shape; AIK has six-game unbeaten streak, while Norrkoping didn’t lose four previous matches. Their first match this season had ended as a goalless draw.
AIK had a fair deal of problems at the beginning of season when it started with two goalless draws. In first six rounds AIK won two, drew two and lost two matches, but after that they kicked into higher gear and now they play quite good. The transformation starter after away defeat by Goteborg 3-0 in April and since then AIK lost no match out of six played.
Fact that they drew only once in the series sounds even better, while they won remaining five matches. They drew two rounds ago when they met Sundsvall away and the result read at the end 1-1. In that way four-game winning streak was interrupted but in the previous round AIK won again. They defeated Hammarby 2-0 at home, where Larsson scored both goals early in the match. AIK is still undefeated at home, while out of action due to injuries are defenders Nyholm and Lundstrom.
Probable lineups AIK Stockholm: Linner – Dimitriadis, Karlsson, Mets – Adu – Sundgren, Hussein, Larsson, Saletros – T. Elyounoussi, Goitom
Just like their hosts Norrkoping also lost only two matches so far but they drew far more which is why they have fewer points than AIK. They drew six matches, mostly outside their stadium, where they played two matches more. At the beginning of season they didn’t win in first three rounds, and they won just once in first eight rounds. Another similarity with the home team is that they lost the last time to Goteborg, which happened in mid-May at home.
Since then Norrkiping had four-game unbeaten streak that includes three wins and draw with Nammarby, which took place two rounds ago when they received the first goal early in the match but then they turned the result up-side down. They couldn’t keep the lead and the match ended as 2-2 draw. In the previous round , the last before break due to obligations of the national team, they defeated Eskilstuna away by 2-0. It was the fourth match in a row in which they scored exactly two goals. Forward Larsson is their best player, who scored by one goal in each of above mentioned four matches. The same team played previous two matches and we don’t expect any changes now.
Probable lineups Norrkoping: Pettersson – Dagerstal, Larsen, Lauritsen – Gerson, Fransson, Thorarinsson, Thern, Skrabb – Nyman, Larsson
Both teams are in very weak shape but it can be said that AIK is still a favourite to win due to the home-field advantage and fact that are undefeated in last six rounds. Norrkoping isn’t bad either and they score with ease lately, which is what we expect to do in this match too.
